It makes everyday riding way more relaxing - comfortable and tons of space to store stuff!

I should get a Hypermotard and put saddlebags on it.

How did you explain the broken bones?

No cast for a broken collar bone. I just took the sling off when I visited them at home.

Just saw an acquaintance over the weekend who busted his collar bone dirtbiking...he had to have surgery or whatever.  It was poking out of the skin, he was by himself in the woods with no service, but the adrenaline got him home so he could get a ride to the hospital. Crazy what adrenaline will do to eliminate pain.  Same thing happened when I witnessed a buddy break his back crashing hard two summers ago...he rode home with two broken discs and then realized fuuuuuuck my back is broken.

Honestly, a broken collarbone isn't too bad. I think professional dirtbikers start riding 3 weeks or so after surgery.

Yeah, he said it was about a month and he was basically set to go.  Fucks with your head, though.

Collar bones are easy to break.  IIRC, it only takes 8 lbs applied in the right spot to snap one.  A former co-worker snapped his in a simple little, low-speed tip-over on a dirtbike in a tight corner.

Three weeks?  I've seen guys show up 1 week after surgery.  I remember watching Ryan Hughes snap his fibula in the first few laps of the first moto of Southwick some years ago and not only did he finish out the moto, he went back out to race the second moto knowing he had a broken leg.  Story goes that he finished the moto, handed his bike to his mechanic at the finish line and told him to get it ready for the next moto while he hobbled over to the medical center for X-rays.  He had to tape his boot on with duct tape, but he went back out and managed to finish high enough in the order to score points.

Oh dang.

Either way, hearing those stories made me not put much weight on the whole "6 weeks in a sling" thing so I ditched mine after 3 weeks anyways.

Ordered brake pads July 10th. Was given a delivery window of July 17-21. Still haven't received.  Was never even given a tracking number.  Kinda pissed.  Emailed them...hopefully just a mixup or stupid mistake.

12,000 RPM

Who'd you order from? Had a similar mishap with my coilovers but they eventually came.

I'm certain a lot of these "tuner shops" are kids in their basements all ordering from the same warehouses. Motorcycle Superstore is slow though.

I've had decent luck with Motorcycle Superstore...or at least, they are consistent.

This order was from Babbit's...a Michigan-based warehouse.  For fuck's sake, I just sent a multi-meter via one-day shipping for $26 to a buddy in WI and they can't get me brake pads in 2 weeks?  Sounds like a shitty warehouse.

Emailed them and left them a shitty review...got an email today from a survey company asking me to rate my experience...even though I haven't even received the product yet. Needless to say I wasn't a good review.

giant_mtb

I said in the "what can we do to make your experience better" part that they should waive my shipping fee.  Fuckin bullshit, IMO.  I've been trying to get the right rear brake pads for a while...ordered OEM specific pads from this place because they were one of the only places to offer them and they're in MI, so I figured it would be quick.

Speed_Racer

I now stall the SV every time I ride it after having ridden the DL. The DL has a hydraulic clutch that engages at the last 1/4 inch of clutch travel, the SV's cable clutch has a nice wide engagement. Feeling like a noob

I blew the main fuse last night about 4 blocks from home. I went ahead and swapped the fuse out, but it blew 0.5 seconds after I started it up again. I got to push it home. Guess I'll do the valve check and figure out whatever the problem is while the bike is apart.

LED bulb is go. Def downgrade in cool factor but huge upgrade in functionality. Should be able to sell my old headlight and make a little money too. I don't think I rode the bike this month :( #coilovernation

Do you guys change the filter every oil change, or every other? IIRC my shop manual just says every other time, but that goes against my car experience.

I only change my oil once a year since I only do about 4000-5000 miles, so I change the filter every time.

I dunno, it's a 230cc air cooled Honda...I don't think you are supposed to ever change the oil.

I change it every other ride or so.  Only takes 1.1 quarts, so it's cheap n easy.

giant_mtb

Still waiting for my f*cking rear brake pads from Babbits.  Never buying anything from these folks again.  3 weeks and counting...

Speed_Racer

I change oil every 3000 miles, so I swap the filter with every other oil change which ends up being about once a year

CaminoRacer

I might just do the filter this time and see what it looks like.

I rode my 954 this weekend. I don't think I can part with it, or if I do it'll probably be to trade. I need motorcycle in my life, especially since my friends are getting into them.

I also rode a Daytona. Damn that thing is nice.

Nah I am going to stick to the street, but not commute. It's too much of a hassle to go to the gym after work on a bike, and with the amount of stress and work and lack of sleep, I don't want to be commuting on it every day.

Really just want to trade it for a Grom to learn how to wheelie and dick around town.

I'm loving the single life, even if I'm in the office ~50 hours a week I can still time to drop everything and jump on the bike to ride around
"On a given day, a given circumstance, you think you have a limit. And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit, and you think, 'Okay, this is the limit'. And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further.
