I see, I guess it was 2006 when they stopped making the GT wagon.
And 2005 was the only year that it came with a stick shift (in wagon GT form, the Outback XT kept it for a while I think).

Outback XT still has one.

Cool, wasn't sure about that one.

I thought about the Outback, but I wanted the improved handling of a lower vehicle.

I can understand that.

I am going to do everything in my power to get my parents into an Outback XT for their next car (their current 5-spd 2004 Outback has 115,000 miles and has yet to be at a mechanics for anything beyond routine maintenance).

Not that it'll matter to me at that point though.

Lowering springs and new struts.

I wish we still got the GT wagon here.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

If you had bought it, would you still have it, or would you have sold it?  I know that's tough to answer on a hypothetical.  Teuton's post made me think of this.

I think I would have sold it.  Three hundred thousand (at least) is a lot of money.  I could pay off my student loans, pay cash for the rest of my schooling, get a hell of a jump on retirement, and have some money for a cool car(s).

I'd have sold it. I wouldn't at the time have been able to give it either a proper restoration or store it in the manner it would have deserved.

That, and the money would've been nice.

I just wish I knew what did end up happening to it.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Bought a 3" straight through cat-back exhaust, should have bought an OEM STI exhaust.  $600 and just too loud versus $100 on the used market, and probably just right...

Agreed. I would probably pay off student loans, buy a house, and buy $40k worth of cars and bikes.

Reading that 300k number, I thought "Psilos could retire 50 times over with that much money."

$600 on a damn exhaust???????? Why no muffler shop special?

I did a spreadsheet on all the money I spent on my car this year and it came to about $1500 :( Granted the bulk of that went to getting a new motor but still. I am just gonna keep this running long enough to get another car.

BENZ BOY15

This is what my parents gave to me:

I would have wanted black, but the color looks pretty good....esp. in the sunlight.

I love it. It's perfect. It drives well, fun around turns, gets good gas milage, comfortable, spacious, big trunk, good seats....it's just great all around.

In 1994, I was looking to replace my Merkur XR4Ti.

The first car I drove was a 1989 Peugeot 405 Mi16 in black:
(Representative photo)

By the time I got my financing together, it had been sold.  So I went to test drive a 1990 Volkswagen Passat GL 2.0 16v with 5 speed.
(Representative photo.  The actual car was some sort of funky gold/brown.)

The selling dealer was beyond useless.  I was ready to buy but they acted like they didn't want to sell me a car.

So here's what I bought.  A 1990 Peugeot 405 DL Sportswagon 1.9i with 5 speed.
(My actual car in photo!)

I kept it for six years before selling on to another Peugeot enthusiast.  Fantastic car.  I still miss it.

Sexy!
I was in Argentina 1994-1996 and Peugoets & Fiats were the "nice" newer cars sold. (Besides brazilian built Escorts and the occasional BMW or VW.) 90% were stickshift of course.

I really liked the 405, although the 505(?) in wagon form is prett sweet too.
