The exterior could be better and the interior needs to be better.

Fire It Up

WTF is that one with the M and the S?

The exterior is ok, but the interior definitely needs less "textured plastic" on the dash, although there are some parts, such as the doors, and the back seat console that look great.

More importantly, the interior ought to look much better, and needs to lose the iDrive.

TBR

I've really warmed up to the interior. I still wish it didn't have the idrive type controller, but I do like it more than the 7-series' interior.

I haven't. It still looks like the basic dash design of a Honda Odyssey with other stuff tacked onto it. I don't love the 7-Series interior design, but it's far better than this.

Anyone notice just HOW much better the W220 S-Class interior looks than the new one?

the first interior picture looked alright but the second one looks so cheap, no to mention the steering wheel which looks no better than the plastic one on my parents Honda Accord.
Quoteand then caseyNpham got a 17 incher up his 'umbrella stand' and then he screamed like a little

What exactly does this Distronic Plus thing do?

QuoteWhat exactly does this Distronic Plus thing do?
isn't it the active cruise distance control?
"On a given day, a given circumstance, you think you have a limit. And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit, and you think, 'Okay, this is the limit'. And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high." - Ayrton Senna

Yes.  Its a brake assist program, that adds breaking power if a impact is sensed.

He said the design is growing on him, but I think he also liked the previous interior better than this one.  When he's on, we'll ask him.

I didn't love the previous design, it was a bit bland for my tastes. But it was certainly far better than this IMO.

Raza

That steering wheel is terrible.

i agree. I really liked the last generation S class but the recent ones. From 2003-2005 when it had like the clear headlights.

Hm, not really likeing anything about the design from pictures. Interior looks like astrange marriage of the 7-series and A6...? It doesn't work IMHO.

The A6 has a beautiful interior that shouldn't even be mentioned in the same thread as this monstrosity. More like a cross between a 7-series and a Toyota Sienna.

More like the Odyssey:

I still love the door panels and the insurment cluster. A few other things I kind of like as well, that LCD for the rear AC system is totally bitchen looking.  B)

Very true. Those are details that I think look very nice as well.

Getting the details right is nice as long as you don't screw up the basics.
