Should I get a PS3 as planned, or give XBox a shot?
I have have always played the Gran Turismo series and have been a big huge fan and everything, but I'm tired of waiting, and I don't really want a PS3 for any other reason. I've never played Forza, but maybe I should try it, and maybe I'd rather have an XBawx. Eh?

If you're getting a system for just one game then I'd probably get a PS3 and GT5. You already know you like the GT games.
However, if you're wanting to play more kinds of games then the 360 is the way to go. Or do like me and get them both!

Onslaught

I can't say what game is better with GT5 vs Forza because GT5 isn't out yet. Perhaps by the time PS4 is out it will be available?

I am only going to buy one system, and I am tired of waiting. :banghead:

However, Gran Turismo has always been super awesome...

I'm picking up Forza 3 today.

I've always liked the Forza series, I never thought GT was any better, and I'm a huge fan of instant gratification.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

I am very worried that Forza is more arcadey and less realistic. I will tolerate nothing but the best in this regard. If Forza is anything like NFS, I will instantly throw my new XBox 360 out my fourth story window without a second thought.

Forza is nothing like NFS. It is exactly like GT.

PS3 if you also need a BluRay player, and GT5 better be able to blow you since it's taking so long.

Xbox 360 if you want to race NOW, and IMO it'll be every bit as good as GT5. I have both GT4 (albeit on the PS2) and Forza2, and I like Forza2 better. There are no more reliability issues with the 360... I had a first gen die after almost 2 years, and they replaced it with an Elite a year ago. It's non stop in my house (2 teenagers, the wife and myself). Everyone will tell you the online play blows Sony out of the water, and while I haven't seen Sony's OLP, Xbox live is terrific. Lastly, Xbox 360 still costs less, even with the recent PS3 price drop.

Finally, Forza3 looks absolutely incredible. Picked it up for my son for Xmas.

I am skeptical. I need to test drive Forza 3.

I play Gran Turismo exclusively with all of the assist features disabled (except in the case of an extremely overpowered vehicle, I would set traction control on the minimum setting, but only because it was nearly impossible to modulate the throttle that well with the PS2 controller).
How does Forza play with all of the assists off?

I've always thought the Xbox controller was better suited to driving simulators because you used the trigger for the throttle, which meant you had a range of motion to work with. I guess the PS3 controllers have a trigger now too, but I think the range of motion is a little smaller on it.

I prefer the X and square buttons on the Playstation controllers to the triggers.

Forza 3 plays at least as good as GT4, and it's significantly more realistic, too.

Dunno about how it compares to GT5.

Why?  There's no modulation whatsoever and thus takes a lot away from true simulation.  Instead of a throttle, you have an on/off switch, nothing more.

At least on the PS2, the buttons are pressure sensitive.

But pressure sensitive buttons are harder than a trigger. Does the XBox use triggers for both throttle and brake?

I got used to it after hours of playing GT4.

Does anyone know if the PS3 buttons are pressure sensitive? I know the Xbox 360 ones aren't but the original Xbox ones were.

Forza has NEVER been arcade-y.

Project Gotham is the Arcade Racer. Forza is the sim.

Forza3 has Ferrari and Porsche, if I'm not mistaken, GT5 offers neither.
