Similar to Teuton's thread, which 2012 Subcompact would you prefer to have?

Polo GTI. TSI, hell yeah!

Keep in mind that the US Polo is supposed to be different from the EU Polo. Taller, larger, (likely heavier).

SVT666

Fiesta.  I would have easily chosen the Fiat 500 if it weren't for the multitude of problems my cousin is having with hers in Germany.

That can't bode well for the US......

CR-Z.

Don't really know why.

CR-Z.

Don't really know why.

The CR-Z would make sense if it got the Fit's 116HP motor and shed the hybrid (worth at least 300 lbs) but instead we get 122 HP and a 2800lbs car.

Laconian

Jalopnik reviewed the CR-Z and concluded that it's a pointless car that sits on the fence about its sporting pretensions and economy and ends up satisfying no one.

Guess I'll go with Fiesta then.

Sounds about like every review I have read about it.  Shame, I think it looks really cool, imo.  Now, if Honda can stuff an Si powertrain in there, shed the silly hybrid crap, things could get interesting.

the Teuton

Fiesta. I've driven one of the EDM models, and I was smitten. The clutch pedal sucks, but it's a glorious car. And it doesn't have Italian repair bills following it.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

She'll hate diesel passenger cars, all things Ford, and fiat currency.  They will masturbate to old interviews of Ayn Rand an youtube together.
You can take the troll out of the Subaru, but you can't take the Subaru out of the troll!

Maybe a Swift? But honestly, I would get an awesome used car for the price of any of these new.

1. Polo
2. Fiesta
3. 500
4. Swift
5. Aveo
6. CR-Z
7. Micra
8. Spark
9. iQ

Swift will likely be the leader in dynamics and fuel economy. (1.3L, Suzuki claims 47MPG)

Kind of hard for me to say seeing that I've never been in any of them. Probably the Ford or Honda.

Cookie Monster

POLO!

I would've said CR-Z but the stupid hybrid drivetrain makes me not like it. :rage:

The old one was praised as a Mini Cooper for 1/2 the price.

Oh. The new Swift must be dynamically better than the other new for 2011 cars then.

thewizard16

Probably the Polo or the Fiesta as the top pick, with the new Aveo and Swift as a back up. The Aveo keeps getting more aggressive looking and I have to admit I'm starting to like it :mask:. (from appearance anyway)

You're my age.  We're getting old.  Plus, now that you're married, your life expectancy has gone way down, since you're more likely to be poisoned by your wife.

Vinsanity

wait, Chevy is going to sell the Spark and Aveo at the same time?

sportyaccordy

If they bring over a 2700lb Polo GTI 2.0T I would go for that

Otherwise... I am playing it safe and going with the Aveo, because I know the RS will have a turbo powerplant, and early pics showed a nice interior and exterior

Yes. The Spark is 145" long, a little over a foot shorter than the current Aveo hatch. The Spark will become the value leader at ~10-11K, and the Aveo will move up in size (and quality) to compete with the Fiesta.

1.4TSI GTI Polo is plenty. 180HP and 2600lbs. (This is the current Polo GTI)

Payman

Yeah, I'd totally rock a Polo with that engine. Are we getting it for sure? If it comes with a 6 speed and plaid seats, I'm sold.

cawimmer430

Volkswagen Polo. They're everywhere and they look great.

I never cared much (nor looked at) the older generations as they were bland and boring and the last generation looked like an oversize VW Lupo. The current version looks awesome. I'm really digging those new VW headlight designs. Take a trip down into the university/student section of Munich and you'll see tons of these new Polo's parked in parking lots there. Must be popular with them young kids!  :tounge:

Not really, the VW is saying it's going to be similar to a Honda Fit.
