It sounds exactly like I had imagined. Like shaking a can of loose change. Neat!

My 4th grade teacher had a W123 300D wagon (actually still has it, on a new engine). That thing was so fun for field trips.

That's a great local brewery that we have. Do I drink their beer? No.

A 240D filled my Miata with smelly blue smoke while on my way home. I hate your car now!

That was a 240D, mine is a 300SD

Nice video.  :praise:

Wow, the preheating part sure takes awhile - and it's SUMMER!  :tounge:

Perhaps the glow plugs need to be changed as well. I drove a W123 200D once in Autumn when the weather was much cooler and despite the engine being cold, the preheating process didn't take that long.

Actually the guy that had the car said he recently changed the glow plugs in it, but not for sure how recent that was but yeah it was pretty hot yesterday too.  Oh yeah while I was under the hood yesterday I found the plug in for the engine block heater.

Well, your car has 5-cylinders: the 200D had only four.

My new power window switch should be in today, hope it rolls down all the windows on the right side.  The plan for next week is to get new tires and do my first oil change.  Might go ahead and change the fuel filters too.

Mustangfan2003

Power window switch was broke and have to order another one. :banghead:

Can't you salvage one from a junkyard? Should be much cheaper!  :ohyeah:

Hadn't found one in salvage but I have found a new one for $40 online which isn't a bad price.  That was also for a MB OE part too I believe.

So, when are you doing the 6.9 installation?

I hope I never have to worry about any motor swaps.

I hope I never have to worry about any motor swaps.

This is incorrect.

Mustangfan2003

If I wanted to do a swap though I'd rather go with a Cummins.

I am fine with this. I am looking to swap a Cummins into a second gen Monte Carlo, myself.

So, when is the Cummins transplant happening?

I think I have fan clutch issues right now.  The temperature seems a little high when I turn the air on and goes back down when I turn it off.

Mustangfan2003

My cousin found me some paint for free, score.  Now it looks like all I have to pay for is the clear coat and whatever he charges for labor.  Don't think I will need any primer though.

Mustangfan2003

Well no updates in a while.  I haven't driven the car in nearly a week actually and the other night my exhaust was laying on the ground.  It was held on to the frame with some round rubber o rings.  Man things just get more interesting.

Isn't that how is is supposed to be?
There's a w124 250d parked downstairs and it's exhaust was also mounted with those rubber things.
Probably to reduce NVH.
@heelntoe

Mustangfan2003

I really don't know, but I'd rather have it welded.

JWC

I don't think you want to weld your exhaust to the frame.  Those rubber o-rings are vibration dampers and allow the exhaust to flex so pipes do not get stress cracks.

Cookie Monster

Yeah, don't weld it. Leave the rubber rings there.
