Thinking of selling the Durango and getting something else

Durango is getting up there in miles and thinking about trading (selling it outright) into somthing bigger.  Wife drives the Durango and would be the daily driver of this one since i have a department take home car.  We've test drove about 6 diff things looking for pro's/con's of each and remember we've got 2 kids to tote around.

Ram 1500 crew cab
Armada
Toyota Sequoia
GMC 4 door truck

We like them all and they all have things we like/dislike about them but the 0% financing of the Ram is really and I mean REALLY hard to pass up.  I've seen you guys talk bad about the Toyota what gives with it?

Those are all well rated vehicles. the Sequoia is best in class overall but IMO its sin is terrible styling, especially interior.

If it were me I'd go minivan all the way; AWD Toyota Sienna.

They tow a giant boat, IIRC.

We need real 4x4 where we live and the wife REFRAKKENFUSES to own a mini-van.  I actually tried to get her to drive the Town & Country Limited but she wouldn't even look at it.  She actually got mad at me when I pushed the subject.  Where we are they only plow on weekdays now because of the budget and we can see drifts of a couple feet regularly.  The minivan wouldn't do very well plus with the wife having the kids when she goes shopping in that weather I feel much better with her having a reliable  heavy 4x4.  Appreciate the thoughts on it though Cougs.

Wait for the new "Magnum"? (Durango)  Unless you don't want to go another winter?

It looks like it's gonna be on the new Cherokee fram which is just too small.  If the new durango was going on the ram frame then we'ld definately look but if it's not we're not interested.

The Armada is really old. I'd probably go with the Ram.

I guess if you like it you should get it but the other 3 have been redesigned relatively recently and after seeing the Ram in person I like it.

I fell in love with the GMC Acadia I rented. Tons of room, good power, nice interior, and a fantastic cruiser. I highly recommend you give them a look. Also, I'd look at the new Explorer... looks very promising.

There might be a problem with towing.

The only think I tow is a small trailer for my lawnmower so it wouldn't be a problem.  I've looked at the Enclave in passing but they're smaller than the Durango.  We're looking for something with more room since Lauren starts kindergarten and will be playing a couple little kid sports- we want the room to haul other kids to and from and so on.  I know- mini van but that's a no go.  We havent decided to do anything yet we're just thinking about it.

Definitely go the crossover route then. More space-efficient.

Does/did Tony have a Durango as well? Maybe I'm thinking of his.

Durango also gains 7 seats, though.

If I was going full size SUV, I would get a Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon, or a Suburban.  They are far and away the best looking SUVs on the market, and they are damn nice trucks too.

Cookie Monster

The Tahoe does look nice. The GMC looks like something was poked up its butt.

The Tahoe does look fantastic, and the Suburban even more so.

mzziaz

Getting a full size truck is way overkill for your needs, imo.

Man up, and tell your wife thare is only one person in the family knowledgeable about cars, and it aint her.

Then get her a XC90 or something

If you're seriously considering the Ram, it sounds to me like the extra space isn't that big of a concern. The Ram is going to have less interior space--specifically, no third row for the soccer team--than any midsize SUV on the market.

Hell, it'll probably have less interior space than a RAV4.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

Why the need to size up to something full size pickup?

Tahoe was actually supposed to be on the list I must have forgotten it.  Very nice truck.

I don't know if we're seriously considering it but that 0% financing is hard to look the other way on.  But you're right it wouldn't do much for space.
