Has anything moved any further with this? I really think the wheels on my car would look better a little darker or lighter.

Well, I did escalate my dispute with the seller to a claim... that's about all that's happened.

I've been too busy the last few weeks but if the weather is nice, I should be free this weekend. I might just redo the windshield header and hardtop strikers again, since the windshield header got kind of messed up when I attacked it with the sponge/brush to get all the dirt out that had settled onto it.

You can see green peeking through the black. I think it's because I didn't lay it down well when I did paint it, and the crapload of dirt that got all over the car certainly didn't help either.

If I do ever get my money back I might try making my wheels black, while I still have the jack stands and lift that I borrowed from my friend over a month ago to spray the wheels gold.

My friend did his wheels.  Very easy.  His wheels were flaking so the plastidip doesn't come off as easy, but he just got new tires put on and it only came off the weights
Pretty durable and does not take much to do 15in rims.

Seriously thinking about getting a set of cheap steelies, and painting them red with a nice silver beauty ring. I love that look on small cars.

Unfortunately AFAIK you need to get colors through dipyourcar.

I think home depot or ace can special order the red cans of paint. It's not specially mixed by dipyourcar.

A possible use for plastidip...

I own this car. well, I own one of these cars, this is just an image I pulled off of google. Anyways, see that body-colored C-pillar? I've always thought that was a bad design move: and that it should have been blacked out in order to match the rest of the window framing, and to visually tie the greenhouse together.

So, should I black it out with plastidip or not?
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

There's guys on the Yaris forum touching up their black plastic with plastidip.

I suppose it couldn't hurt.

They should just body entire cars using plasti-dip.

Plastidip and clear coat would look great.  You can use anyclear coat and since its on plastidip itll still peel off.

Gonna do it tomorrow mang. Don't know if I'll want to do the windshield frame and strikers but at least the wheels will be done.

Sneak peek of the wheels after a few coats.

Few more to go. I used 2.5 cans of black on the wheels and about to finish off 2 of the gold cans so I'll still have a can and a bit of black left and an unopened can of gold.

Your masking tape is not enough. Your tires have plastidip on them.

So? It does come off. A lot of people don't even mask their tires at all. I just wanted to get the majority of the overspray onto the tape to peel off so I wouldn't have to dig between the wheel and tire to get the excess out. A simple wipe with a rag will pull off the remaining plastidip.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlyB3FbYRRs

In that video he doesn't mask anything and peels the excess right off. I just didn't want little gold bits stuck in between the rim and tire.

Not sure how I feel about the pink, but I think red steelies would look pretty cool on your silver car. :ohyeah:

The wheels are in the garage right now drying. I'm going to let them dry overnight before peeling + putting them on the car tomorrow. I'll get some good pics tomorrow. The finish is quite smooth and doesn't look too bad. The black Plasti Dip goes on thick so you need to really pay attention to how much you spray per coat (I did 4 thin coats) but the metallizer is very thin and I just put on 3 thicker coats and it looks fine. It takes a LOT to make the stuff run and mess up your finish.

I also decided to take the back off my phone and sprayed the shit out of it with the gold without the black base. It's starting to peel but it looks pretty damn nice. I wish it was more durable and didn't need the black base. There's 7 coats of rubberized paint on my wheels right now. :mask:

I think it would be cool. Some masking tape above and below, it should peel off the windows.
