The worst touchscreen system in that class of car.   Apparently it's quite horrible.

The 3 series gas pedal is still a deal breaker for me

If it's the same as mine, you get used to it. First couple of drives are a little jerky when you take off but you learn how to modulate it.

Oh.

I wouldn't buy a car with any of that touchscreen doodad crap anyway, so problem solved.

I hate how the first inch or so of travel does almost fuck all.  I found it difficult to get around a parking lot without being too slow and then jumping to light speed all of a sudden.  I hate it.  BMW really needs to fix it.

My pedal isn't like that.  Although that sounds preferable to the jumpy, inconsistent pedal from the 350Z I drove last.

Everything I've read says it's a 3 Series trait.  Once I'm not fond of...in case you couldn't tell.

I did.  I loved it in fact.  But my next car is a Mustang and I don't intend on looking back.

Until you start test driving. We remember your last car shopping marathon.  :ohyeah:

Turbo or non-turbo model?

Mine has maybe half an inch of nothingness, then you get to a point where the pedal gets harder to push. If you blow right through that point, you'll take off like a mad man. Ease into it and you take off normally.

I drove a 323i, a 328i, and a 330i.  They all did it.  Hate that pedal.  Everything else was fantastic though.  There were several items that I liked better in the G37 though, like backseat space, trunk space, steering, pedal feel, and the fact that you get the big engine, leather, AWD, and premium stereo for less money than a bare bones BMW.  The bimmer is a fantastic car and I really do understand why people love them so much.  I loved my experience behind the wheel, but the G offered more for less.

I have the premium stereo in the G and don't think highly of it. Our TSX sounds much better.

Yeah, it's a nice system, but I've heard much better, though it stays very clear even at high volumes.  The problem with it is it's Bose, so aftermarket speakers won't even fit.  Having said that, it's the only Bose car stereo I've ever thought sounds good enough, not to replace.

The Bose stereo in my cousin's old G20 (early 2000s?) sucked.

I like the LR's stock Alpine, except it automatically tones down some songs when they get suddenly loud, I guess to protect the speakers, or something. It's by design (I checked with LR) and it annoys me.

The pedal in my mom's GLK is the same.  The Rental C300 we had recently was the same too.  Really annoying.  However, the C-class was on eco mode default which made the throttle annoying.  Taking it off fixed the problem.  Maybe something similar could be done to the 3er?

I like the fact that Ford is really differentiating its products from the rest of the mainstreamers.

+1

And it kind of has an Aston Martin vibe (at least on the outside)...

187.9" long and 3,628 pounds?  No, not anything resembling a small car.  For comparison, my old E class was 189.4" long and 3,624 pounds.  Not even 2" between the cars.  The G is almost 10" longer than an E90 3 series.

I still can't believe that the G is actually heavier than my old E class.  Sure, it's only 4 pounds, but damn.

~3500 lbs is pretty normal for a mid-size car these days, isn't it?

It really makes me gag at that, but on the plus side it has a really good ride.

Really?  don't really notice that, and I recently drove a G37S, didnt seem that different. Maybe you had sports mode on on your test drives?

If I have a Mustang, I have no desire for a Focus ST.  But just in case you missed it:

I have a Mustang AND a MINI. I'd love another newer Mustang (like a BOSS 302 LS) but I'd also love to pair it with a JCW Clubman. Nothing wrong with an agile little FWD car, too. Oh, and I'd love another 4200 lb BMW 7 series Sport, at the same time.

Maybe I just can't bring myself to be narrow minded and only like one thing.
Like a fine Detroit wine, this vehicle has aged to budgetary perfection...

People like what they like. Plus, maybe he'd want a Mustang and something else that isn't a Focus ST.

I used to own an SVT Focus Chris.  I loved every minute of my 4 years of ownership.  But the plan for our house is to have the Infiniti G37xS (which we already have), a Mustang GT or Boss 302, and our Explorer for towing and ski hill duty.  That's about all I have room for since I also have a boat, tent trailer, and utility trailer.

I don't have room to have 14 cars Chris.  So, fuck off and stop being offended by everything everyone posts.  Man, it must suck being you...you know, being mad all the time.
