Audi #5 now in my driveway

After 5 1/2 years and 140,000 miles of trouble-free driving, it was time to pull the trigger.  I just picked up a CPO 2013 A6 in midnight blue with the Nougat brown interior.  I was planning on buying in about a month, but I came across this car which forced the issue.  It was the exact spec I was looking for - Premium Plus with Cold Weather, and either dark blue or Oolong Grey with Nougat interior, 9,400 miles, a service loaner from my dealer.  And they were asking a couple thousand less than other dealers.  It drives indescribably well, and the extra 55 horses go a long way to bringing this thing alive.  I haven't had much time to play with it, but the adjustable suspension really seems to work well.  Anyway, I'm blown away by just about every aspect of the car, from the swipe pad input for the MMI system, to the funky assed headlights that create a bubble of daylight like I've never seen before.  So far, so good.  More to follow, but here are a few pics I was able to grab during Saturday's test drive, and today.

Cell phone pic this evening...better ones to follow at some point.

An amazing coincidence, as I drove my old A6 home from the dealer, it hit exactly 140,000 miles.  I'm keeping this one though - my girls will drive it and I'll retire our 13 yr old Grand Cherokee that's been acting up lately.  No big surprise, but my purchase was  helped along by the girls' Jeep acting up.  I really don't want my kids driving unreliable cars and it has had a few issues over the past 6 months, stranding the girls on campus once.   Let's hope the A6 keeps up its stellar record!

Nice. Audis are my favorite Tuetonic brand (my specific favs are the S4, S5 and A/S7). One the thing that bugs me is the inconsistent spacing of numbers and hash marks on the speedo.

And Jesus, look at the size of that hand! ;).

saxonyron

The non-linear speedo actually makes sense since the spacing at low speeds is bigger where it makes more of a difference.  And LOL at the hand comment.

I didn't notice the speedo until you mentioned it, and even then it took me a couple minutes to see it. So I don't think it would bother me.

Lovely!

Is this the supercharged 3 liter?  Same engine as in my brother's car, it's a peach.

So...we're hooning the shit out of it at Dave's?

Nice, congrats. Very nice looking car, and love the color of the interior.

Thanks guys!  @ Raza, yes it's the Supercharged 3.0, 310 HP, 325 lb-ft at 2,900 RPM, so it has great delivery of power.  @ CJ, I'm thinking we'll see who can get the best lap times around Dave's neighborhood.  I hear his stuffy Yankee neighbors really enjoy engine noise.  :ohyeah:

Awesome car.  It's really only in the last few years that Audi has really started building cars that I want.  The A6 is a beaut...but have you ever thought about expanding your horizons a little?

Oh, and that interior is exactly the colour I would get.  Love it.

I will see this on Friday and render my opinion at that time.

Congrats Ron!

I always figured you go for a manual A4 after your A6. Either way, super nice car and I love the interior color!

I figure if it ain't broke, don't fix it!  I did try to expand in '06.  I tried Volvo, BMW and Inifiniti.  I almost bought a G35, except no AWD with manual and I'm deep in the snow belt and it snowed the day after my test drive.  I realized life would be much harder for me with RWD.)   And yup, I love that interior color.

I will only be driving strictly the speed limit, so you'll only get a limited appreciation for its road manners.

I love the A4, but it's just too small for me.  I was thinking of an S5 with has a little more room, but there just aren't any available in CPO, especially with a manual.  And a new one's sticker wounded my wallet too deeply.

But the S5 is a coupe and has less room.

But from the driver's perspective, overall size isn't the end-all.  Per Audi's spec, the A6 has 37.1" head room, 41.3 leg room.  Totals 78.4".  A5 has 39.1 + 41.3 = 80.4".  The A4 actually specs out even bigger at 81.3, but for some reason the A5 is more roomy in areas that aren't represented by dry measurements. Anyway, either one was tight, the A5 felt better, but the A6 (with the lowest combined head/leg room) is the most comfortable of all.

Chip it for 400hp.

  Don't tempt me.  Although I'm not sure how easy it is to chip these.  It was easier with the older turbos.

Well well well...   Thanks for the link. This has gotten dangerous thoughts going in my head.   Although, I guess I should wait a couple years when I'm out of the  100k warranty.  Chipping things tends to void warranties on very expensive repairs.  Unless the hackers have figured that out too.
