It really is no trouble to continuously point out the massive hipocracy and ignorance of those two.

You leave Hippocrates out of this.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Can a mod maybe set up a new thread for Nick to point out everyone's hypocrisy?

Alright, finally drove it around some more, and I'm still not sure, but now I don't think it's pulling. The steering wheel isn't quite straight, though.

I also think it looks damn good as it is. Hard to gauge that without standing back from it, which I can't do in most of my typical parking contexts. Needs slightly bigger wheels.

And all of them are either $400+ or $250 with terrible reviews...

If you're afraid of slightly stiffer springs, you definitely don't want to run pillow ball top mounts. They can be really harsh from a ride perspective.

Also, I have no idea what Nick is saying since I blocked him awhile ago, but I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark and guess this is what's going on.

What's better for handling-- light wheels and tall sidewalls, or heavy wheels and short sidewalls? Either 15" 7 kg (15.4 lbs) wheels, or 17" 9.3 kg (20.5 lbs) wheels (same outer tire diameter)?

The other trick with the wheels is that sets seem to always come with 7" wide in front, and 9.5" wide in back (damned 911s), and understeer is the problem I have (though I'm getting that sway bar...). If I get 7" all around, the rears would be tucked in like they are now, though I guess I could try again with spacers.

Both shorter sidewall and lighter wheels help a bit, hard to say which is more noticeable. Personally I think 17" is the way to go - better tire selection.

Wheels obviously need to be 9.5" all around.

Rupert

Nah, this car doesn't make enough power to break anything loose as it is.

9.5" up front, 7" rear. No more understeer.

It's impossible to say without more info.  How stiff are the sidewalls?  What's the weight of the tires?  Moment of inertia of both setups?

Don't try and make some wheels you can get cheap work.  Spend the money to get the right offset and sizing.

"Right offset and sizing" means an aftermarket wheel, which would be >$2k (some of them are $1500+ per wheel), vs. old Porsche wheels, which would be $6-700. I think probably the bigger question I would want to know the answer to is, would the 9" rear wheels with 7" fronts really affect the handling in the understeery sense much?

If your goal is to get a balanced car, a huge staggered setup like that is not going to help. There's a reason why 911s run 2" wider wheels in the back, but most cars don't.

^ My thinking. There are a lot of 944s with that setup, as far as I can tell. Probably mostly Turbos.

Some BRZs run huge staggered setups.  A lot of the tuned 135i guys do too.  They're all making significantly more power than either of our cars.  Until you're putting down such big power that you're willing to give up at limit balance mid corner for additional corner exit traction, I think it's a big silly.

Assuming the sway bar is of a decent size, it should overcome the staggeredness.
