Or maybe, you know, smaller trucks hmmhmhmhblmblRanger...

Gee, that was a great idea that sold a metric butt load of vehicles. I wonder what happened?
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Much better.  Definitely still the class of the field appearance wise.  With the weight loss and a couple new EcoBoost engines, I doubt whether GM can still advertise the Sierra as 'better mileage' under any circumstances.

They started to grow in size and started to catch up with full size trucks in price and fuel economy.

I liked it at first, but those bigger images aren't as flattering.  I'm not a fan.  The Ram is still the looker in the trucks segment.

1. It's ugly. But then the last one was too.

2. It's some weight in a truck a good thing?

3. Repair bills will be out of the roof. Then again the last one had fucking magnesium and shit in it too and that made repairs a fucking ass raping pain. Hit something and just go get a new, ugly truck.

Weight can help with stability when towing, but anybody who's buying a pickup for a tow rig is probably going to go with an F250 or larger.

Well I don't know how far you have to go back but I'm sure at one time half ton trucks were 700 lbs lighter.

280Z Turbo

Fill it up with 700 lbs of lead weight when you tow if you're worried about it. Lol

Yeah, back when they were actually half ton trucks.

Yeah, back when they were actually half ton trucks.

F-150s are pretty much mostly "1/2" ton trucks (47 of the 61 variants show a payload capacity of 2,000 lbs or less). One has to opt for the "Heavy Duty Payload package" to exceed "1/2" ton status, which I'm guessing most buyers don't opt for.

Go back 2 generations (the '97-'04 model) and the F150 was at least 1000-1500 lbs lighter than the current one.

None of those options are actually a half ton though, are they? It doesn't have to actually double the half ton mark for it no longer to be a half ton truck.

What about with things like boats? You don't need a F250 for a boat. You need your truck to weigh more then what you're towing. That helps with the stopping.
What about wind? Trucks blow around a good amount from wind as it is anyway. I know because my dads 2000 F-150 blows around now as it is. If you make it just as square and less weight wouldn't it blow around even more?

Sorry if this isn't logical. I'm drinking wine and logic is out the window for a few hours.

It sorta depends on the boat...

You can tow a bass boat with a compact car just fine.

WTF? I wouldn't touch a bass if you paid me. If I wanted one if those nasty fucking things I 'd walk to my pond and catch one. I don't do fresh water fishing.  We have this thing called the Atlantic Ocean and a beach house there with three boats. For catching real fish.

I'm sure this ugly ass F-150 would probably work ok for that. As long as you don't dent something.

I was beside 1 new F150 today at a stoplight, me in my 97 F150.  The superduty emblems on the front fenders were at my eye level.

A 65 F100 weighed about 3,300 lbs
A 75 F150 weighed about 3,800
An 85 F150 weighed about 3,800
1997 F150 weighs about 4100 lbs
2013 F150 weighs about 4,700 lbs
These were all conventional cab, 2WD base models.

Aluminum repair is a bitch. I commend Ford for their initiative here, but will the target audience put up with the insurance premiums this thing is sure to command?

Maybe this will make aluminium repair a little better and cheaper. More than 3/4 million F-150's sold last year so assuming that sales figure doesn't change, that's hell of a lot more aluminium cars on the road than ever before

May I point you to your nearest Chevy or Dodge dealership?

Exactly.

Maybe it's different where you are, but around here I can think of two gas stations in the city that I've been to that has Diesel. It'd be a huge pain in the ass to find Diesel around here.

Then again, I had a buddy who needed 94 Octane gas for his Legacy GT after cranking the boost and he DD'd the thing. He seemed to get by okay...except the one day he called me to see if I knew any stations around where he was that had 94 Octane gas.

Probably 80-90% of stations I've come across regionally in the midwest have diesel. Often, its just one pump that doesn't stand out from the rest at all and just happens to have two different nozzles. But its there.

Pretty much any gas station near a highway has diesel around here.

Long wheel base, 8 foot bed?  I quoted a different source.  Doesn't really matter ; both weights show the trend toward heavier (and larger) vehicles.
