I do drive the BRZ a lot to work.  But if the weather is crap or I'm feeling lazy, I take the Element.  I don't have dogs like you, so I don't use the utility of the Element as much as I thought I would.  Long distance driving is much more common for me.

Told you the Element was a dumb idea.

I think knowing your budget the r spec is still the way to go initially.  Just way more car than anything else for the price.  Too bad the warranty is non transferable though.

Half-transferable.

Or EJ207+Porsche transaxle swap the Element.

That's a great local brewery that we have. Do I drink their beer? No.

:wtf:  It's not just power and seats.  Something shaped like a refrigerator on stilts just isn't going to work out very well on the road.

There's so many issues with raising or lowering the car.  It's not worth it.

Keep the BRZ for now.  If you're intent on getting rid of the element, look into used Outbacks or Legacy wagons?

I guess I should specify a bit more:  Looking for AWD or RWD.

If only the outback came with turbo + manual transmission.

They did in '09.

Here's probably the lowest mileage example out there.

No Nav, though it wasn't very good anyways.

The 2G Forester XT does. Still a box but not as much.

What about keep the Briz, buy a used STI hatch?

No to the R32 sedan

My friend at work has a Forester XT with a manual.  It's alright, but I'd prefer something newer.  They're nearly impossible to find on the used market.

As a wild card:  New, heavily discounted, Outback 2.5i limited with a manual?

Right now, the Genesis R-Spec and STI are still the front runners.

Might be a bit too small, but an interesting choice.  Worth a test drive I think.

Why do you say that?

Ultimately, I think I'll come to the conclusion that most of these mainstream options feel like crap compared to a Genesis in terms of ride, luxury, speed, and dynamics.

Genesis will suck in the winter and suck for hauling friends and things.

If you can do 2 cars it's always nice to have one that's heavier on utility.

I still vote for the Forester XT. Good for those miserable midwestern winters, roomy enough to haul stuff, nimble and quick enough to enjoy driving. Genesis sedan is an old man's car. I feel like you will grow bored with it very quickly.
