It's called the GT academy.

Ah okay. I'd do that, since you get seat time in the RS.

The GT3 and GT3 RS are so similar though.  I wish they had a GT3 RS vs Turbo option.

GT3 RS sounds fun but driving the Turbo vs GT3 would be a wider spread I'd imagine.

GT3 RS vs Turbo would be awesome.

There has to be a stickshift in the equation. Turbo vs GT3RS is a pretty good contrast though

Well, if you're paying, I'll come too.

So for my 30th birthday, wife is flying us down to Atlanta to do a Porsche Driving Experience thing.

Do I do the 911 GT3 vs Turbo, or GT3 vs GT3 RS?

I did that. Drove a GT3 RS, GT4, GTS, S Targa and a Boxster GTS.

Definitely Turbo vs GT3. Like you said GT3 and RS are too similar and you won't come close to the limit of any of the cars in one day to be able to really enjoy the slight advantage that the RS has. But the turbo is really different so that would be more fun in my opinion.

As always, Sporty is speaking as a "magazine" expert calling a turbo boring. Lol.

Did another jaunt down I-81 past Scranton yesterday.

Nice weather- hit some weird clouds in the area between Binghamton and Scranton. I've seen those valleys fogged before but this time there was just one cloud of fog in the valley which was all by itself (we ride just above it). Then a bit later it got patchy foggy everywhere.

Didnt' see a ton of exciting stuff but a few stick out:
-Subaru STI with a straight 4" pipe coming out and angled up at the end. Stupid loud.

-Mercedes sedan with the plate:  L1CNSPL8    (Took me a minute to get it)

-Black 4door Maserati got on northbound just south of Scranton (after I turned around). They merged then didn't have enough room to cut me off (I do about 62 in 55mph zone there) so he gunned it and darted back into the merge lane, which was already shrinking, to go around a pickup (with maybe 3ft of merge lane, he was totally in the shoulder) then shoot across the right lane (very close to semi) into the left, which did have some room in front of me.  He got off the interstate about 5miles later.

-Saw a Tesla on the highway coming the other direction from Binghamton to Scranton.

G is getting aligned/tires+wheels mounted. Wow, the steering on the Civic is amazing. Dat turn in. Sometimes I think about keeping it... but then I remember how useless the A/C is in the summer. It is nice having a 3rd car though

It seems like Honda just doesn't know how to make a decent AC compressor. It either is weak, or it's weak - then it breaks.

giant_mtb

Overload that shit with some R134a.

12,000 RPM

Ive tried. Compressor did fry so I got another one, but it's never been good. Honda just doesn't get it.

Now Nissan on the other hand.... both the G and Z prompted me to aim the vents away. That shit blows arctic

I think my AC could use a recharge. But I don't use it often...ever since I got Taco I've been a big windows down person, which I never was in the A4...black interior.

New model Camry gets something like 5 mpg more than predecessor probably a lot having by to do with new transmission (I think 8 speed now).  Daily highway driving I never use cruise so I don't get anywhere close to what C and D gets on their highway test.  Too much traffic 75 mile radius of NYC and drivers, in general, are aggressive.

12,000 RPM

Yea, NYC is a different bag. I got 100% city mileage in every car, even if I got a good about of "highway" driving in.

So the new Mercedes-AMG super cars engine is not just based on the F1 engine, it is an F1 engine, MGU-H, and MGU-K and all, rev limited to 11,000 rpm instead of 13,500 rpm in order to get it to last 50,000km. It will also get a starter.

The depreciation on those is going to be horrendous if you are facing a new engine every 30,000 miles. Oh well, they will probably be on their 3rd or 4th owner by then.

I don't think a serious owner of such cars will care. The target market for these is gonna be small and specialized: rich dudes with plenty of cash to burn. It's not unheard off that some cars require new important parts within short periods of time. The Lancia Thema 8.32 comes to mind. The Ferrari V6 requires a new timing chain every 20,000 km (12,500 miles). Here's a picture of the engine bay. Be glad you're not a mechanic servicing this thing.

These cars are obviously designed for extreme hardcore performance, so the wear and tear on engine components is gonna be hard. Good thing they give you a warning.  :tounge:

Also, it seems those engines are intended for drivers who like to track them. These cars will probably be towed to the track in a GLE63 AMG ( :tounge: ) and then raced on the track. 50,000 km on a track? I'd say that will be reached in a few years in the two digit zone.

Detailed a Lexus IS yesterday. Nice car. The infotainment screen (not a touch screen) had some really weird stuff on it that required a few tries with glass cleaner. The kid was like "HOW did you do that?" and I was like...glass cleaner.

He tells me that the dealership he bought the car from and a local dealership said the only way to remove the stuff (I'm guessing it's built-up water marks left by condensation from the air vents running behind the screen) was to install an entirely new screen...supposedly there was some recall.

EDIT:  It was like this, but much worse...basically covering the entire screen.  Apparently it implies the anti-reflective coating is bad or has gone bad.  Whatever it is, a bit of scrubbing with glass cleaner took it away.  Who knows if it will return.

Ball joints and tie rod ends included in the $400 price and just needs a fuel pump (supposedly).  No other info on it though (mileage, engine)  I should put my 2o6 flipcar hat on.
