Seems it would be far less intrusive to simply send an EU representative to witness all emissions testing to ensure everything is above board than to fit everyone's car with a squawk box.

The point is catching the millions of cars after they leave the dealership though.

How's your back?

Gettin there!  It's mostly a lack of activity issue.  Can't be sitting/laying down this many hours a day, but if I have to, getting the right support is the key.

Today's quick and dirty detailing shoot - G500 G-Manufaktur and a Tesla Model 3 Performance. Some snapshots before the shoot...  :ohyeah:

I guess I still struggle to understand how they could be fudging fleet numbers.  Are sales of vehicles not documented and reported to the government not just by the MFRs, but the dealerships?  Every time I've bought and registered a car, there was a title (which goes through the state database) and a registration (which goes through the state database).  So the local government knows that the car was sold and who bought/registered it.  Not sure how MFRs can hide sales of vehicles.  So the government already should have tools to track the mix of models being sold.  This then leaves the question of whether or not the engine is emitting more than the MFR's claim.  That leaves "cheater software" like what VW used on their diesels or "ringers" used for certification tests.  That was something that was only discovered by putting a sniffer on the tailpipe.  If they are using cheater software, then I wouldn't trust any data coming out of the OBDII port as being legit, the SW can mask the real data and make it look "good".  So, why not just have a government agency perform random checks of production cars off the normal production line?

If the goal is to better understand how much more or less CO2 a car emits when driven in real life vs in the lab, that's a little different.  But it seems that the government has no place placing monitors on the citizens to gather this sort of data.  Buy some test cars, loan them to government employees to use as "company cars", and see what you get from the data.

Yes, any statistician can tell you that a sample size will work just fine. There is no value to monitoring the fuel economy numbers of every individual car unless you plan on:

1: implementing a carbon tax
2: want to crack down people who modify their cars
3: want to monitor driving behavior

Hahahaha
I'm behind the usual stock 4door F150 at a light right by home. He guns it at the green, I'm like, "well then! "

It gets windey, he is doing about 45 in a 35 zone, barely keeping it on the road- but in Scrappy I've done 60 on that road :mask: I catch him and tailgate him on the curve. It's 4 lane with median but I didn't want to push him faster and end up getting hit or something....

It's just so funny how well the car corners. It's a huge adjustment from Odyssey every time.

It's amazing how badly other cars take corners. You get spoiled after spending enough time behind the wheel of a little sports car.

It truly is.

We hosted a conference this week, army peeps from all over the world came. I had occasion to drive two people around, they groaned getting in and out but one said he needs a go-kart too. :)

I picked up an Outback the other day for detailin. Felt like a damn race car compared to the Taco. Pretty much any car feels like a race car by comparison.  Like, ohhhhh, so this is how corners really work!

Just noticed how there is an initial striking similarity between the Land Rover Discovery and the Škoda Kodiaq from a 3/4 point of view. After a second or two you will notice that they're different cars.

I think the bigger limiting factor is the driver... With the G-meter in the Alfa I notice barely anyone ever breaks about 0.3gs

Makes me want to check if Torque app measures Gs. I totally roast people on corners.

There are lots of apps that will do that. The closer your phone is to your car's COfG, the better.

Yeah, but I already have Torque and a BT ECU reader. And a windshield phone mount. So I could not be lazy and have some fun recording shenanigans.

A couple articles found from Googling indicate that the Pro version of Torque will display g-force.

I would agree. I got a kick out of it, but that poor girl plainly has some emotional/behavioral/mental problems, and the exploitation and inevitable kickback is going to go very poorly.

So she is worse then grown adults who are completely triggered by a 16 year old girl?   :hmm:

I think I read she is mildly autistic. It is kind of weird how obsessed with her the right wing internet is. I feel like they are more responsible for her fame than anyone else.

As the left makes her the poster child for climate change, the right makes her the poster child for what the left represents in this culture war.
