By that logic they should make the Camaro and Challenger sedans, to be sold alongside the SS and Charger.

Camaro/Challenger doesn't really have a sedan body style

This review just came out on the 228i:

The 2 Series convertible offers the fun, precise steering and handling we expect from BMW, along with a choice of two eager-yet-efficient turbocharged engines. It's small, light and nimble, and believe it or not actually offers good value when you take into account the sporty driving experience, high build quality and BMW's free maintenance plan.

Considering the 4-series has the same engine options but is a heavier car, and costs some $20,000 more... yes, I think the 2-series is good bang for the buck.

Saw a 228i in the flesh today on the way home from work.  Waaaay better looking than the 1-series coupe.

As I recall, you didn't like the 1 series, right?

I prefer a sports car, but four seat convertibles give you a place to keep your briefcase when you have a passenger. I've got no problem with them. There are a lot I like.

It's hideous, but I'd rather have an M135i than an M235i.

Actually, scratch that. The M135i looks fucking terrible. Bad to the point I'd have the 2.

This 2-series is the first BMW I ever said I'd seriously buy. I love it. I know the 1M and M135 are great cars, but I don't like how they look. The 2 is styled just right, and is a perfect blend of conservative style, quality, interior style, power and performance. It's probably the best $40,000 car in the world.

If only the M235i xDrive was available with a stick!

If I had to downsize to one vehicle, that'd be perfect.  Shame it's auto only.

Nah your numbers are way off. Are you talking Canuck prices?

228 coupe starts at 32K, 4-series: 40K

M235 coupe starts at 43K, 4-series: 46K

228 vert starts at 38K, 4-series: 49K

M235 vert starts at 48K, 4-series: 55K

The M235x and S3 seem like interesting little cars, but at 55K as-tested?.....bejeebus.... :mask:

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

I also had a hard time getting past the porcine styling characteristics.  I've said from day 1 that the 1-series would have looked worlds better without the curved "pot-bellied" character line on the lower door.  Still wouldn't have been a sexy car, but it would have greatly improved the look.

Yes. 4-series is in the 60k range up here, and can be optioned into the 70's.

Also, they aren't "little" cars. The 2-series is little more than an inch shorter than the 3-series of a decade ago (175").

It's useless to cite exterior dimensions given all that has changed in the ways these cars are designed. It's a boatload of money for one of their smallest models.

The 3-series of a decade ago (the E46 and earlier) was a "little" (compact) car.  The Honda Civic of 10 years ago was 175" long.  The Corolla of 10 years ago was 178" long.  The last Mazda Protege was 175" long; the Mazda3 was 178".  The America Focus was ~175" long.  All of those were and are considered small cars.

Yeah I have better use with 55K, namely a GT350 or for 10-20K less, a 6th gen Camaro
