Element engine is a bit quieter now that I INSTALLED AN AIR FILTER.
Jesus fucking christ on a stick. Who the fuck takes an air filter out of an engine and closes it back up like it's optional? I also can't believe I waited 6000 miles before I checked the filter. Fuck me. I'm selling this thing.

And I was surprised when I found Tacoma didn't have a cabin air filter... :mask:

This is a good path because it will eventually lead to Miata.

NO AIR FILTER waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat

I've known a few guys who were either too lazy or too cheap to replace the air filter and just said "screw it."

Then again, these were the same guys who drove around with no exhaust system and had V8 engines running on seven cylinders.

Cabin air filters are actually optional in some cases. If you don't get the option package, the factory will simply not put one in the slot.
I haven't checked my cabin air filter. I bet it's brand new.

I just feel bad for the poor fan being subjected to all the dirt.  I feel like I should take it apart and clean it but fuck that.  Not in the winter.

CEL came on yesterday, then went away today. But this morning the power steering pump was squealing like a pig. It was also the coldest morning ever, in the low 20s. Maybe the same people who took my air filter, lug nuts and taillight bulb also put water in the power steering. It is right next to the coolant bottle.

This is the most problematic Honda out of the four that I've owned. I should sell it.

So, I checked the PS reservoir this morning. The fluid was bright green, with a milkshake consistency, and smelled like coolant. Fuck everything. I would be better off trading this in for a new Mirage.

There's a deli/liquor store combo in Boulder. I don't know if they sell bagels or not though.

Official. I generally swap motors and transmissions into vehicles bought at auction and get them running to be resold at various dealers. Good pay, low pressure, flexible hours, interesting work, got my own bay with a lift, and my boss takes me out to lunch erry day.

Ebay has a lot of used snap-on tools for cheap(ish). Given the transferable lifetime warranty, that's the way to go.

I got some intel about an Element showing up at a local junkyard. I checked it out today, and it was already mostly stripped. However, I did manage to grab a matching alloy wheel for $22. Now I have a full size spare. So exciting.
