Catastrophic oil leak from - you guessed it - the VTAK box
I can't fix it until the engine is dead cold. Mighty Max until then.

Well, at least the manifold is OK and out of danger. Right?

Acrually, the oil is pouring straight onto the manifold and making tons of smoke.

I can't do anything right lately. All of my cars are broken. One step forward. Two steps back. Etc, etc. I'm dressed like a cat.

Friend of mine was having similarly horrible luck. He finally said fuckit and leased a new Malibu.

Fuck fuckity fuck. I can't lease anything because I drive 1000mi/week.
I will be driving Mighty Max tomorrow. The lesser of two problems. If the Element get oil starved or catches fire, I'm up shit creek. If Mighty Max overheats, it is inconvenient.

Sell them all and get one of those $99 a month Corolla leases.

When the lease is up, just buy the car and you won't have to worry about the overage.

I don't want a Corolla, and I can't use a Corolla. I need an Element, Transit Connect, or one of those stupud ass little Nissan vans.

A few months is probably how long a Jeep Patriot will last without a major problem.

Ho. Lee. Chit. I cannot believe where this massive oil leak was coming from. I lost 1.5 quarts of $9/qt sythetic oil over about 150 miles of driving, and I thought it was because I tore the gasket on the VTEC solenoid valvebody when I installed it. Nope.

I removed the brand new Honda OEM®©™ replacement part, took it apart, cleaned it up, inspected the gasket, filter screen, and two other O-rings. I could not find a problem. So I reassembled, added some Hi-Tack gasket sealer, torqued the bolts down to 105 in-lbs, and test drove. Upon inspection, found it was covered in oil.

But I was able to pinpoint it better this time. Oil was literally running up the wiring harness from the oil pressure switch. But I had already removed it, inspected the O-ring, and found nothing wrong.
But wait, could it be? I removed it, wiped the oil off, put my mouth on it, and blew hard. Oil actually came out the other end. FUCK YOU OEM. So I put the old switch back on and it doesn't leak.

Fuck this thing.

No, but I don't work on Hondas much. Many parts these days, both OEM and aftermarket are made in China. There have been some issues.

Jesus fucking christ on a stick. Who the fuck takes an air filter out of an engine and closes it back up like it's optional? I also can't believe I waited 6000 miles before I checked the filter. Fuck me. I'm selling this thing.
