Eye of the Tiger

It must be driveable, have a manual transmission, and air conditioning.
I have no idea

Accent, Focus, or Esteem redux?

Civic redux2 seems likely. I might pickup a junk motor and rebuild it before I even get the car. Almost like some kind of planning ahead ...

A $1500 Civic is going to be a total heap

BGK is on the right path. Defunct brand econocar = max car for $$$. Vibe is probably most reliable + newest worth looking at. Can probably get one for $1500 too

Interestingly, it seems Accords are way cheaper than Civics (at least based on the limited sample size of a D.C.-area Craigslist search). I came up with three viable late '90s Accords under $2,000, while the only Civic in the first page or two was a "Super Clean 91 Civic Si EF Hatchback Shell with Engine and Trans - $1200":

There was also a 2000 Neon for $950 that looks terrible but claims to run great; you can probably find a local equivalent.

There was also this, which is too nice for the occasion:

$1000 man. Not a hell of a lot to work with, you know?

I would have to run a Level 1 Diagnostic ...

Also, I require a manual transmission. I am slowly dying inside. I drove a manual Jeep Wrangler the other day, and I loved it so much it may as well have been a new Miata with Norah Jones playing a piano in the passenger seat.

Have you looked at maybe a Casio G-Shock?  Not a car, but it'll last longer than a $1500 car and is much cheaper buy, own, and run.

A G-Shock would not be practical.
I do not know how to operate one.
I certainly cannot drive it to work.
It won't win any autocrosses, even if I got away with putting it in the Novice Street Tire class.
It would not allow me to cram my arm into the tight spaces under various hoods, as I do all day at work.
It would not allow me the proper articulation and contact acoustics to play the bass, as I do at all other times.
It would not allow me to wear my wrist brace when I am not doing the above activites.
The dog would try to bite it off my arm, just like he does with the wrist brace.
And I would have to reset it in two weeks. :wanker:

Starts and runs great. Vehicle has spent its life in colorado so has no rust. Have rebuilt engine using A.R.P. cylinder head studs, and have maintained very well. Have extra parts including 2 ecm's and a set of snow tires and wheels for the car. contact for more info. Have complete factory shop repair manuals. Don't want to sell but must.
