RFs have trunks full of rubies up here. It's the only thing that explains the fucking price.

Asking for a deposit before your car is even on a truck. Not returning phone calls after you pay the deposit. Not refunding the deposit, forcing you to file a claim through your credit card. Taking a few months to respond to a BBB complaint. At least, that's my experience.

Yes! They carrier DOES NOT get any money before you release the funds! Uship will send you and email with A CODE AND YOU DON'T GIVE THE DRIVER THE CODE UNTIL THE WHOLE TRANSACTION IS COMPLETE! So even if you pay up front you don't have to worry about the driver skipping off with the money or screwing you around!

That sounds sweet. What do you think of this Underdog thing, Mr. QikC6?

I kind of think that dealing with a sole proprietor has its advantages, vs. indirectly hiring min wage fuckups.

That's all good, then. I didn't use Uship when I shipped. :banghead:

I just checked out his Reviews! Seems like a good guy to go with! I'd give him a shot! I like that he includes pictures of the loads he's hauled! He's also insured up to 100K. I say go for it!

I hope you're getting the car shipped in an enclosed trailer, or at least still covered in all the paper and plastic

I agree.  I wouldn't want a dirty brand new car delivered to me, I want it to be a shiny gem.  The first few washes and wax job should be super gentle and be done when the car is cleaner than you may normally wash your car...starting off right makes for continued good habits.  Sort of an "it's gentler to dust than it is to sweep dirt" kinda concept.

At least, do NOT let the trucker "wash it for you" at the local car wash on his way before he gets to town.  Get it professionally done (or DIY?) if it arrives dirty...what's another $100?  Myself and I'm sure others here would be happy to throw suggestions for basic stuff if you want to get into DIY for this gâterie spéciale.

GoCougs

Recommend taking the car here as soon as you get it (they have a "new car" detail package). These guys did the G a few months ago and it was stellar - they even provide loaners!

$595 for the new car treatment?  $1200 for a polish and sealant?!  Jesus Christ I need to get out of the UP.

GoCougs

They do a lot of high-end stuff - they even have a Model S loaner (but I got an xB ;)). The Yelp and Google reviews are stellar.

I think I paid $700 per vehicle for full paint correction and sealant, and I thought that was cheap.  If you want to get into that world of detailing, there's money to be made for sure.

But yes Kevin, get it detailed immediately.  You're going to have a metric fuck ton of paint swirls straight from the dealer.  Usually they suck at detailing and rub all that rail road dust and dirt right into the clear coat.

Will say however they got wax/polishing/whatever dust on my windshield, and it streaked so bad I could hardly see driving home (at night, in the driving rain). I could only do like 50 mph on the freeway. Took me a couple of hours with jeweler's polishing compound to clean the windshield. Would suggest you tell them to mask your windows before doing any work.

Mineral spirits. Best way to deep clean windows.

I think my guy put some sort of opticoat product on the windows too.  On the S2k, I don't even use the wipers when it rains.  Everything beads and runs off.

Wow, it's spendy. $1500 for enclosed vs. $700-900.

Hmm. I have 'til the end of the day to decide; that's when my open trailer auction expires.
