Before buying, you HAVE to make sure they have the DC fast charging option. You need a picture of the charging port or under the hood to see the orange charging cables.

Otherwise the car is worth half as much.

I searched for Bolts around me on another site and did find a few dealerships selling them for $23-24k.

I bought my used one for $18.5k last year.

They're awesome cars, but I think we'd want something like Model Y sized.

I have Minivan and Miata. My middle-sized car could be anything but I think electric commuter could be fun. My commute is about 20miles mostly interstate/ highway. I have garage now. Possibilities.....

Speaking of, has anyone done an EV transplant into Miata? I wondered while I typed the above and found:

https://insideevs.com/news/414771/video-electric-mazda-miata-coversions/

There's another with regular batteries under the hood, but only has 22mile range and extra 400lbs on the front end

Technically yes, realistically no. Thousands of dollars to do it.

Meh. The numbers are working out for me. Considered getting one, getting rid of the girlfriends focus, and just have the outback bolt and s2000 for the house. Not worth it really

I think the appeal of Tesla has as much to do with the computer interface, constant updates, autodrive, and fandom that GM nor anyone else has.

The looks too. The S is an aspirational stunner, the 3 is a looker, & you wouldn't kick the Y out of bed.

The X is a eight-pinter though.

The S is great looking, but a bit long in the tooth.
CT, and both the old and new Roadster are great.

The rest is meh at best.

I maintain that the Model S is the best thing they've made.  They still have big issues though, with the yellow screen problems and memory write cycle issue.

I think the Lucid Air is going to be exactly what Tesla should have been working on instead of the model 3 and Y.  EVs cost aren't low enough to truly compete profitably yet.  They would have been much better off making a new model S and X.

Is that why they've raised $12.5 BILLION since 2012?  $6.15 B since the model 3 went into production?  All that free cash to reinvest and they're still stuck tapping the equity market?

Is it real?  Tesla Model S Plaid Has 1100 HP and Does 0-60 MPH in Under 2 Seconds

Quote
At its "Battery Day" event today, Tesla surprised folks with details on a new high-performance car. The Model S Plaid is available to order now, and the numbers are absurd—over 1100 hp, 0-60 in under 2 seconds, quarter-mile runs in the nines, over 520 miles of driving range, and a 1:30.33 lap of Laguna Seca. And it's yours for $140,000.

Leveraging debt to grow a business is not a sign the products are not popular - just a sign that they are in a hurry to get out in front of a new market

I wonder when Koenigsegg will go all-in on electric. It just seems too easy to put down huge power with EV drivetrains. 1000+ hp in a shell that's more sporting...

They make money on patents, so I think they'll stay in the hybrid zone for a long time, eeking out big HP from tiny engines

Production VW ID4 info/photo's are out.

Starting price is 41k (launch version is 45.2k), 250 mile range. AWD won't be available until next year. Also supposedly will be a cheaper version with a smaller batter in 2022.

In my honest opinion, this is a cheap gesture - we'll be driving EVs willingly. EV is already surpassing ICE in terms of desirability. Add 15 years of R&D and EVs will be an absolute no-brainer.

This is mostly correct; either we will be driving EVs without being forced to, or we'll force the law to be changed.

Exactly. My son in CA has just bumped up the utility feed in anticipation of an EV.
With me it's just stiction, a slightly battered budget, and my wife's desire for a bathroom remodel, that are keeping me back.
I'll need to do my homework on home electrical setups & home charging infrastructure. e.g. I don't want cables lying around on the floor.
