No matter how much I love the 1967-68 Fastback, I love Eleanor that much more.

Never, ever vote against Steve McQueen on anything for any reason!

BTW Hemi: great idea for a new twist on the TvN threads!
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Maybe I'm alone on this, but I think Eleanor, this newer Eleanor that is, is ugly. Very. Very ugly. Not just ugly, not just fugly, not even pug fugly: UGLY ugly.

There isn't an aftermarket part on that car that doesn't make it look worse.

I really dig those replica panasport wheels.

I could deal with the wheels.

The grotesque bodywork, on the other hand...

You may not be alone, but you are in a very tiny group.  BTW, if I ever meet you I will kick your ass for this.

I like the original Elanor, the new one just looks totally bleh. There's no word for it.

SO I voted for the one from Bullit.

I'm sorry, but they took a perfectly good Mustang and made it uglier. It's their fault, not mine.

Had this been Bullitt's Mustang vs. the original Eleanor, well... that would have been a tougher choice. Then again, I find most Mustang aficionados (read: fanb0is) don't like the big '71-'73s...

They were huge and ugly.  The lines are horrible.  Yuck!

Onslaught

The hood on Eleanor is kind of ugly. I also think it could be a little too much crap on it.

See what I mean?

It was big, but there wasn't a line on that car that was out of place. Not a one.

Except that the rear window worked better as a sunroof than actually letting the driver see what's behind him.

But mostly I agree with you. I think part of what made them less attractive at that time was that it seemed most of them were delivered on wheels much too small for the bodywork; making the car look top heavy and tippy.

And that's easily corrected.

Bullitt, no question.

McQueen > Cage

However, Eleanor > Bullitt.

New Eleanor > Old Eleanor.

Not only is the car nicer, but Bullitt was a better film than Gone In 60 Seconds.

Bullitt for me, the Eleanor's hood totally ruins the whole car. The Bullit isn't so riced out!

Besides the chase scene, the movie itself is pretty low key and drawn out. The original 60 seconds though: pure automotive pornography!

The movie was terrible.  The chase scene was one of the best ever though.

Bullitt. Mark is mostly right - New Eleanor has bits of metal all over the place. I'm not repulsed by it, but I'm not enamoured by it, either.

Raza

I don't think the Eleanor in the movie has that large of a "power bump".
