Thanks man :ohyeah:

but I think you're crazy for choosing it.

It probably is crazy, but I wouldn't need any cargo space, and I think it would be a good daily driver.

After giving it more thought I'll go with a GT3, but I can't decide between a 997 or 996 :banghead:

993 > 997 > 996

So go with the 997. It's your friend.

It's not that I don't like the turbo motor... I just like the response and sound of the N/A motor. Not to mention, I'm sure the 330i is much lighter in the nose with the magnesium block and all, and consequently, a much better handler than the 335i. Plus again, I'm really trying to make a practical choice... between my heavy foot and penchant for modding, I'd be doing myself some good by staying N/A...

And the coupe has potential to look good w/the right aero parts... but I like the sedan better stock.
Trust me, you don't have to worry about throttle response in the 335i.  The turbos are small so they spool up very quickly.  BTW, the 335i will outhandle a 330i hands down.

It does make a good DD. Fun, solid gas mileage, relieble, looks good, can hold 2 sets of golf clubs, and its comfortable. But if there's no price limit there's other cars i'd rather have.

It's all personal preference. Personally I'd take a 997.

Honestly, after the 993, it's all the same, IMO. I personally find the 997 purer, just because it retains more of the original 911 shape better than the 996 did. I don't find it as soft as the 996 either.

BTW, I'd take a 993 GT2 (I know, no A/C), a 964 Turbo, and or a 930. In that order.

Actually, for a daily driver, I'll slot in a 993 Turbo S in between the 993 GT2 and the 964 Turbo. I like the 993 GT2 WAY too much to pass up.

How would a 335i outhandle a 330i? The 335i weighs a good 180# more than the 330i, all of which are over the front end, and it has the same suspension, wheels, and tires... how would it handle better?

The 335i uses a unique sport tuned suspension, with different spring rates, as well as a slightly different alignment, as well as 18" wheels with better Potenza tires than the 330i gets.
Like a fine Detroit wine, this vehicle has aged to budgetary perfection...

What about turning the air all the way up and dropping the windows? In a convertible at 120?

I've been meaning to pose a similar question.  Is it better, aerodynamically, to run a convertible (two seat) with the windows down and top up, windows up and top down, or windows and top both down?

Dang 2 sets of golf clubs?!?!?!?

I thought I had it good when I could only get 4 full size tires in my trunk with the back seats still up.? But man 2 golf bags... ;)  :P

On topic, I don't know how you guys are taking little tiny cars as your DD... I load up my car all the time with crap, and I use that hefty trunk space on a regular basis.? Sure you can borrow a friends truck / SUV, but why do that when you don't need to?? But hey, if you guys never carry stuff then I can see why you'd go for the smaller car (I would too if I didn't have a full trunk all the time).

I think I'd go for a S4 / RS4 wagon (do they make the RS4 in wagon trim?).? Or maybe just a 9-5 Aero wagon.? And manuals all around of course!

Design has nothing to do with it. Some feel that the driving experience of the 996 GT3 is more pure than the 997 GT3.

Oh, I thought you were just talking about regular, run-of-the-mill 996's. Everything I said applies to the regular 996.

I chose the Veracruz for various reasons.

1.) It's getting a diesel soon.
2.) It's huge.
3.) LOADS of room.
4.) I like it a lot.
5.) Fantastic interior.

It's a very nice place to be.

BMW likes to claim 50/50 for all its models, but this is not exactly true. It varies. My M3 is closer to 52/48 than 50/50.

Some of you mentioned the wider rubber on the 335i. Wider rubber does not necessarily improve handling. Steering feel and feedback can actually decrease. I think a 335i has nothing handling wise on even a 325i. The 325i is the better handler IMHO.

But the 335i has so much more power that overall it is a much faster car.

I drove a Z4 2.5i on a tight track recently. It is a better handling car than an E46 M3. Is the M3 faster overall? Yes. But the Z4 handles better. Its just physics. Admittedly that's a more extreme example but the same principles apply.

I know nothing about a 335i getting a different suspension than a 325i. If you have a source, please post it.
