Has Fiat come out with the Reliable trim yet?

They have a walnut burl shift knob. Reliable doesn't come into play here.

I hate Tarvish, but this is kind of funny.  http://thegarage.jalopnik.com/bmw-engines-are-gigantic-pieces-of-shit-1784684330

I'm skimming through the comments, and one dude talks about LS swaps being overplayed and someone should swap a shitty VQ into an E46.  I swear, that has to be sporty.  No one else would say that.

That was me. LS swaps ARE played out.

Came in to say, wifey had her mom's minivan since they're out of town and she had to get them from the airport. Having a minivan in the driveway, particularly a cheapo T&C, did not make me dry heave or question my manhood like I thought it would. The thought of a Pacifica or Sedona is a lot less scary now... though I foolishly forgot to check how that T&C would fit in the garage. I'm still most partial to the Q5/Sportage Turbo/Santa Fe Sport though.

It's pretty bad when somebody can spot you like that over everybody else on the internet just because you're the only person who agrees with what you're saying.

Now take that interior theme, put it into something that doesn't look like an overinflated retro jellybean, and it might be interesting.

Maybe some upscale Challenger variant?

I think the new ones are probably fine. They're just Fords with fancy seats, ain't they?

Although they have a new V12 engine now, up until recently, they were still using the V12 developed by Ford/Cosworth...being assembled in the Cologne factory.

Mini vans are awesome vehicles if you can get over the "manliness" aspect. They're hugely versatile, what with seats that fold into the floor and all that.  Hmmm, do I want to transport myself and 5 friends to dinner in comfort, or is today the day to put the seats down and fit a bunch of stuff from the hardware store in the back?

The person in my family who had an issue with the minivan wasn't me.

It was my wife.

Ok, so I had an issue with the recurring problems with the transmission, the burst heater hose, and the odd revving at idle that I never figured out, but those are different stories.

I just hate having more car than I need, and we definitely don't need a minivan. I definitely want something with a higher seating position as that will make things easier with kids, but we've been making do with our little econoboxes.

Plus minivans are expensive AF.... most of em require dropping $40K just to get a sunroof. Something CR-V sized would cost like 3/4 that equally loaded. Plus I'm very skeptical one will fit in our garage.

I can't knock them at all on the functionality front though. If someone needs what they offer they cannot be beat

They've long been designed around fitting into a garage. Unless yours is oddly small, it should.

CR-V isn't a bad choice if you're going to have one or two kids.  Two young kids may be pushing it when it comes to longer trips and taking everything you need with you in a CR-V, though.

If I ever have kids, it's gonna be a van.

Also, I've personally never seen a minivan with a sunroof.  They're nice to have, but.  Most people put fuckin' shades on their car windows the minute they even think about having a kid anyways.

Ha, yea I didn't even think about that. Sunroof would be no bueno.

Yea, long trips would be a stretch with something CR-V sized. I'm thinking we could just borrow MIL's van for that though.

LOL they were designed to fit into a garage, most modern garages will fit almost any SUV.

Even the tailgates are designed to be high enough to clear the average adult's head, but still not hit the garage door when the minivan door is opened.

BTW if you want something "quirky" the Ford Transit minivans are out there....

nope you win

Do I get any cool points because

1992- buried the speedo on the Autobahn (110mph) and got about another 250k rpms.  Then Turbo Cayenne passed by and I jumped on his rear bumper and drafted another 500k rpms faster. (Sunday morning no traffic)
1999- customized. Found a van at the salvage yard with same fabric seats. Grabbed a bucket and replaced the rear bench so I was rocking 3 buckets instead of 2 buckets + bench. Came in handy, son could recline in the far back, and we put a dresser next to him once.
2003- We've put 23k miles on it since bought Feb 2015....!!!!   Should hit 200k by the end of this year.
