What's everybody's future plan for their car(s)?

Secret Chimp

Having done my first real performance upgrade on my car with my new Ecstas, I've been inspired to put some other things on the list along with general maintenance down the line.
What is everybody else planning to do in terms of parts, tools and tweaks in the near or distant future? Here's what I've thought up so far:
1. Replace cap and rotor
2. Get a Milwaukee 9070-series impact gun so that I can...
3. Replace my brake rotors
4. Get rid of my Akebono ProACT pads and upgrade to Hawk ceramics, do a full bleed-out on the brake system
5. Install a stock 27mm EX front sway bar and a 21mm Suspension Techniques or 22mm Progress rear sway bar (with solid or poly links)
6. Turbonator and fuel magnetizers*

That's a great local brewery that we have. Do I drink their beer? No.

For the Camry:
1) Maximize fuel economy

For the Intrepid:
1) Put some better speakers in
2) Tint the windows
3) Put on a "University of Toronto" decal
4) HID kit

For speakers, if your Intrepid uses 6x9's on the rear deck, I'd recommend Pioneers for bang-for-the-buck. I have TS-A6981S's in my car (the lower-end of the two I found at Best Buy) and they have an excellent lower range that doesn't leave you wanting a separate sub box that much.

Thanks a lot. I have no idea what speakers uses, but it has the Infinity 6-speaker Premium Sound system that originally had the 4CD changer + tape deck. Now it just has a JVC KD-G320 iPod Stereo. I removed the changer and everything because I exclusively listen to the iPod.

OMG I will fill up this thread all day. OKAY... here we go:

1. Need two cheap 195/60/14 tires for summer
2. Need two cheap 175/70/13 tires for winter
3. Want to buy big rear sway bar, but that's $135 I don't have. Will probably just replace the rubber bushings with something solid, or maybe drill new holes in the stock bar if that is physically possible.
4. Must install my super $20 ebay straight thru muffler so I can hear my mighty engine, increase my top-end power, and maybe even save more gas.
5. Ok, I really need to change my pantyhose. Yeah, the 'st33m wears pantyhose. It's my airfilter.
6. Need some REAL driving lights. I got the $16 cheapo walmart lights on there right now and they suck. At least the wiring is in place for when I get Hellas.
7. Speaking of lights, I need to re-aim the headlights since I lowered my esteem.
8. Turbo.
9. The front brakes don't have much left in them. I am dreading paying for new brakes, but I look forward to installing and using them. I really hope the rear brakes don't need work, though. I hate drums.
10. I'm pretty sure the timing belt is going to snap anytime now. Yup. I'm just going to wait until it happens.

I guess that's it for now.

If it has an Infinity system in it, you might just look into getting a better head unit. Infinity is still a reputable brand, there's probably a good lot of potential in those speakers that hasn't been used yet. The speakers on my family's Sony home stereo sounded like shit until I hooked up a 1979 Technics receiver with a full range (20-20,000) straight transistor amplifier instead of the modern junk in the 1990s Sony, and it was like having brand new speakers. Obviously nobody made great head units in 1979, but what I'm saying is that if you invest solely in a good head unit or controller/external amp setup, you'll do well.
However, there's always the chance that the Infinity's actually are junky - they're in a Dodge, not a Lexus, after all :P

1.Dynamat doors, rear hatch, and rear floor.
2.Intercooler hoses (good for another 5 or so horsepower).
3.Turbo inlet hose (meh, maybe 5 horseys if I'm lucky, but every bit helps, right?).
4.Port/polish intake and exhaust manifolds, making a point of port matching to heads, and the exhaust up to the turbo.  Porting the heads will wait for a while, I'm not eager to pull the motor quite yet.
5.Eventually a Cobb accessport and a protune. (Should be good for getting me up to stock Evo power levels, if not very close).
6.Cheap V-limited style front lip spoiler.

I said in the post you quoted that the only aftermarket thing on it is the headunit.

The speakers are great, the sound is great, but it just didn't have iPod connectivity so I replaced the HU. In that I had to sacrifice my CD changer and tape deck, neither of which I used.

How much is this front spoiler? I wonder if the 'st33m could benefit from one. Despite a new alignment and a tight suspension, the thing is still quite unstable over 70mph.

If I keep the 'lude (most likely thanks to genetically passed down cheapness):
1. oil change (tomorrow, if I drag my butt out of bed in time)
2. spark plugs, wires, and air filters (as soon as my parts store friend gets his price for me)
3. Change transmission fluid? (how do I do that? Could that explain why 3rd gear comes back at me half of the time)
4. Some sort of intake (NAcar, your advice?)
5. Springs
6. short shift adapter and shift knob
7. Tires (should need new ones by this time, will not cheap out for once, if I am still in TX at this point Ecstas will be top contenders).

The fakes are about $100, the authentic ones are about $250.

I don't think they'd fit the $t33m tho.

Intake for Prelude? Easy. EBAY! $30. Get a COLD AIR INTAKE. Don't bother with a "SHORT RAM" or "WARM AIR INTAKE". Also, don't be fooled by the cheap prices. They are just as functional as the name-brand $200 pipes with filters on the ends.

I couldn't remember if you recommended the do-your-own approach or buying a cheap one off ebay and I tend to think you know what you are talking about as far as this goes, seeing as how you have owned and modified a jillion different cars.

I've used the parts off a $20 Ebay Civic intake on like 3 different cars. It's on the 'st33m right now, actually.

I'm not going to seperate short-term and long-term right now, so here it goes:

-Put my 2.5 RS hood on my car
-Put my RS grille on my car
-Install a rear sway bar (need to decide GC RS or GG WRX, though, but I already have the endlinks)
-Newer style headlights
-Buy and install a 2.5 RS front bumper
-Wagon spoilers
-STi tail lights after I install the OEM replacement I have sitting in the back of my car right now
-Replace head gaskets and swap in the EJ25 I have sitting behind my house
-Paint my car Blue Ridge Pearl
-Fix my dash lights
-AGX or GR2 struts to go with my RS springs
-new 16" tires
-Long term:  EJ20 and 6 speed manual from an STi

Longer termn plans:  Buy an E30 BMW or Mini Classic.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

Yeah, there's just nothing in it (that I know of) so I would have to use my card. I'll have to run it by mom tomorrow, but I'll stress that it will help fuel economy and that I probably need an air filter anyway (I can't get the stupid thing out of the stock box to check, this way will be easier :P). Should I replace the cap and rotor or is that unnecessary as preventitive maintance?

I don't know about the cap and rotor. If the engine runs fine, you probably don't have to worry about it, but it can't hurt either. Take the cap off and look at the wear on the rotor and the contacts.

Usually, I'd replace the cap and rotor at the same time as the plugs and wires, since they all seem to have similar life-spans. Actually, I need to add wires to my list for the 'st33m. I'm pretty sure it's had the same ones for 10 years now. I cheaped out last time I replaced the plugs.

Well, I won't even get into what needs done to the Caddy.....

For the Aveo:
Subwoofer with built in amp
New rims & tires once these tires are worn out.
I came into this world kicking, screaming, pissed off, and covered in someone elses blood.
If I do it right, I will leave this world in the same condition.

heelntoe

for t3h sc00t(currently not in one piece :tounge: ):
-new tyres.
-long overdue oil change
-make the engine into a bedside table if it fails.

for t3h car:
-getting a security system/steering, clutch and gear lock
-music syzzem, yo.
-new tyres and rims when the current ones wear out(it's still a long way away, steelies FTW!)
that's about it. i rarely drive it and it only has 5000kms on it in over a year.

future vehicle plans:
-get cheap escort/daewoo cielo and try and make it go fast
@heelntoe

JWC

Vovo: brakes, headlamp wipers, oil change

Taurus: trade it in

VW:  See "project Beetle" thread.

93JC

Spirit:
- replace the rear brake discs. I'm 99% sure the driver's side is warped, and the passenger side is in rough shape, so I might as well replace them.
- general tune up; plugs, distributor cap, filters, check hoses, check belts, chassis lube
- find out why three of my speakers are crackling. Could be the speakers are toast, but I have a feeling the radio antenna is at fault (it's a little bent). I need to find a cassette to test it out.
- figure out what's making my rear suspension squeak (probably bushings, but I'm not sure)
(- long term, rebuild the heads, 'cause I'm burning a LOT of oil...)

Cherokee:
- get it running

TBR

"- general tune up; plugs, distributor cap, filters, check hoses, check belts, chassis lube"

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just replace the whole car?

1. Install trailer hitch on the Accord.
