Upcoming car you are most excited about.

The title says it all.  Which not yet released car are you most anticipating?

For me it's the rumored upcoming Subaru Toyota joint project on a cheap RWD sports coupe.  It represents a return of Toyota to RWD performance machines.  I'd love it to look like this too.

So which car is it for you guys?

Raza

The rumored sub-Boxster sports car and coupe come to mind most readily, but I don't think that's going to happen.  So, honestly, I'm thinking nothing.  Certainly nothing we're going to get.  I mean, I might be reminded of something, but right now I can't think of anything.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

Realistically, probably the MKVI GTI as it's most likely to be my first car after the Subaru.

Maybe the next gen 1er, whatever it'll be.

Fiat 500 because it's seriously a contender for my first new car.

I can only get really excited about something if it's in my price range. And nothing all that great or good looking is coming out for 35K or less that I can think of.

Because I'm not in the market. I can still enjoy cars without feeling a sense of excitement for some new car coming out. It's like reviewing the top washing machines when you don't need one....

I get excited about cars coming out regardless of price range. Partially because they often fall into my price range, used... ;) And others are simply inspiration. Even if I can't afford one, the world's a more attractive place for having DB9s in it.

Goals should not be things you can attain easily or instantly. And just becasue you're not in the market now shouldn't be an impediment to enthusiasm about new cars. I was excited and enthusaistic about cars before I could own one. It drove me to go kart racing before I could drive, and model car building.
Like a fine Detroit wine, this vehicle has aged to budgetary perfection...

I want to see what models Fiat/Alfa brings over, that's probably the most exciting thing. I can't really think of anything else - we seem to be in a lull of activity with most models for '10 and '11 already announced and '12 models not being shown yet.

I guess I'm excited about the next BMW 3 series too. After seeing what C&D said could be the next one, I'm really hoping they keep it good looking. AND NO STUPID GT MODELS!

New cars have to be exciting if you want me to be excited about them.

Also, I wasn't aware of a 911 replacement any time soon (unless you're talking about a refresh or something) and a big luxo-barge that I'll never really enjoy driving isn't about to get me up in the mornings, and neither is an RX car.

Part of it has to be weird timing as well.  We're in the middle of the year, with the new model year just around the corner (and some of them already out), so most of what's upcoming has already come, and the newer prospects haven't gotten much media attention yet.  I mean, the Camaro just hit the market, after its long buildup of attention after its auto show debut in 1879.  The new Mustang is out.  Sure, we're getting Fiats and stuff, but they're already on the market, so it's not like it's an upcoming model either.

Six or seven months from now, with new auto shows showing concepts, this thread might really be interesting.

Really good thread thus far.  Whether this is a time to get excited--unless you regularly spend six figures on your vehicles and a One-77 doesn't even boing your credit card limit--it's really hard to say.  I don't think the full effect of the "economic downturn" has happened yet--too much has to go too right too often for anyone to get the warm fuzzies right now.  There are far more things wrong with the world economy than there are things right with it.

That being said, the US version of what's currently the Euro Focus presents itself as the next new car that the WifeDude and the Nethead here are most likely to buy--and even that is well down the road since our three four-wheeled vehicles are all doing very well and appear to have years of good service still in 'em .

There are parts of a 2011 Mustang that interest me--all of it to do with the new 5.0L V8 , reasonably enough--but I pass on the current 2010 S197 facelift.  The next truly new Mustang will either win me over or convince me to find the right '05 S197  on the used car market.  I can't get excited over a new Mustang that I haven't even seen, although I hope the Giugiaro Mustang concept  with a much-closer-to-the-2005-Mustang grille emerges as the production winner.

I'm not in any hurry, since I'm beyond that Age of Impatience where you "settle" for less of what you really want just to have some version of the vehicle you want--you always kick yourself for that compromise later.  Been there, done that...
