Nice attempt at non-motorized premise alteration:

I know you guys HATE me correcting you and otherwise HATE when I'm right, but give a thought to MaybeIshouldjustlistenlikeanadultnexttimeSPIN.

If you think current is proportional to voltage in a DC motor, or think there aren't DC motors in cars, or whatever nonsense you, 2o6, or others are peddling, you're just being stupid.

Have you considered the aerodynamics of the fan blades?

2o6

Anyways, the fan seems to be working fine right now so I'm not going to worry about it. If it blows again, then something is definitely up.

You can't push current through a fuse? Yeah, that's right, they only work one way.

Yeah, that's why you have to make sure you put them in the right way around, otherwise it won't work. Like AA batteries.

I no longer trust the Toyota dealers in Akron, or honestly, anywhere.

Took it in to get the seat "recalibrated". They ran the codes again, and "discover" the code for the spiral cable (clockspring). Want to bill me $475 parts and labor for the job (not horrible, I do believe)  $150 for getting the seat "recalibrated".

Why do you keep taking it to the dealers when you've been saying say how incompetent they are?

Why don't you try an independent specialist?  Specialists (tend to) live off their reputation rather than a franchise?

There's no point. I'm going to do it myself.

There's a video on the Yaris Forum. (Finding out that this is somewhat common on 2007 and 2008 MY cars)

Beauty plate is held on by two torx T27 screws (as is the airbag) Airbag module clips off. Steering wheel is held on with a 17MM nut. Unbolt nut, then wiggle wheel off the shaft. Then the spiral coil is right there and it clips right in.

Don't count on being able to "wiggle the wheel off the shaft." Have a steering wheel puller handy. And make sure you've unplugged the airbag control module or the battery for awhile before you try this unless you want to risk it going off in your face.

Don't listen to Chimp. Do it with the module plugged in and the battery connected. Otherwise the wheel won't come off.

Heck, I'd get a battery and a couple of leads and see if I could make it pop.

Then again, I am not a role model to be followed when it comes to these things.

BTW, 2o6, I love your "Car of the Month" Renault Alliance!  (1986-87 model, going by the headlamps and grille)  I've been talking online to a guy in Louisiana who's restoring a 1987 Alliance GTA coupe.  He doing an incredibly thorough job of it, too.  He's even built an arduino computer board to hack into the car's ECU.  This guy is a friggin' GENIUS!!!  :ohyeah:

Fuse is holding so far, been hearing the fan start up and shut down normally.

Looking for a clockspring, it's fairly hard to find. Junkyard ones could be hit or miss; deployed airbags pretty much melts the connectors on the part.

While I'm down there, I might put in a wiper stalk from a Prius. Mine only has three speeds; low, high and intermittent. It's annoying when it rains.

Buy a new clock spring.  That's a part you don't skimp on.

Should someone, for inexplicable reasons, desire to own the worst Maserati ever made that wasn't a Chrysler, examples can be found already in the states for less than that, and in better condition.

The Maserati Biturbo is to me the most beautiful Maserati ever made. Just a simple, yet totally elegant and classy/lovely design. Just look at it!

Auto Classic magazine promised me that if they ever have a Citroen SM or Maserati Biturbo owner in town, I'll be the photographer!

Yes, if it wasn't for the badging, it could very easily be mistaken for a Chevy Citation. Much more beautiful than a Khamsin, Bora, or a Ghibli.

What was I thinking?
