My new car: 2011 Infiniti G37x sedan.

Well 'SPINners, you were with me through thick and thin, provided me lots of good advice and friendly banter, and otherwise got me to the finish line. Good on ya.

Lakeshore slate blue w/black interior (hard combo to find) w/premium package (moon roof, keyless entry/ignition, upgraded audio). 19,800 miles. took a bit of time but got a decent deal worked out tonight and pulled the trigger.

Obviously a step up from the Accord but not quite as much as you'd think; the Accord can definitely hold its head high especially concerning engine NVH - the VQ ain't got nothing on the Honda J-series. Surprisingly though the G37 has a better ride. The AWD + stability system is a wonder. Wet road performance is phenomenal. Shenanigans that'd have the Accord spinning away through the first two gears sees the G37 just squat, grip and go.

At home:

Congrats. The Infiniti G seems like it'd be the right car for you. It should be no surprise that ride+handling are leagues ahead of the Accord's. If I had to be completely honest, the 1st-gen G was probably better sorted in those regards than the 1st-gen CTS.

Congrats.  The only thing I don't like about those is the stupidly cheap looking silver trim on the interior.

Hahahahahahahahaha

I am fucking SHOCKED. Congrats on the purchase and more importantly for not making the most practical choice. I think you will really enjoy this.

I don't yet and the dealer has already removed the car from its site. Black with silver trim.

Manual or automatic?

It's not the choice that I would have made, but it's a handsome car in a nice, non-standard color.  It should serve you well for a long time.  Congratulations!

The VQ may not be the smoothest engine out there, but it does make a great sound.  Enjoy it, man.

Actually it's a very practical choice in total. I got it for $28.5k which is less a new moderately loaded Camcord V6 by $2-3k. It's got just a bit less room than a 7th gen Accord and otherwise fits 4 comfortably. There are no pricey maintenance items plus unlike the Accord the VQ doesn't have a timing belt. True it needs premium gas and has AWD but I'm getting 21-22 mpg so far which isn't too far off the Accord at 23 mpg.

Cookie Monster

IIRC the AWD version only came with an automatic.

Thanks. It's the 7 sp slushie, which is the only tranny for the AWD G.

I'm serious when I say the Accord is not embarrassed by the G. Some of the finer details on the Accord are even a bit better engineered IMO. The Accord is a very 'enthusiastic' vehicle.

From what you and Craig were saying in the other thread, it's programmed pretty well, so it should still be good to drive.

What pushed you over to AWD instead of RWD?  Does Seattle get a lot of snow?  I always pictured it more as a rainy clime.

CJ

From what I recall, Cougs likes to go up into the mountains for winter activities, so AWD is preferred.

He's not wrong about the Accord.  The steering's decent, handles pretty competently, and they are pretty quick.  I know my mom's car will scoot pretty good.  It also sounds quite nice.

sportyaccordy

This really is the perfect whip for Cougs, only thing that would make it better would be if it were a wagon

Still good choice though, so glad he didn't get that god damn Camry

AWD has its advantages in the rain also

Well, now I can't get one.  BMW 335i it is.

Dude, go drive one.  The auto has the best programming of any auto I have ever driven.  It's like it knows exactly when you want to hold a gear and when you want to change it.  It's brilliant.
